• Aufgrund intensiver Entwicklung von neuen Behandlungsoptionen wurde in den 1980´er Jahren ein Chemotherapeutikum zugelassen, mit dem 95% aller Patienten, die an einem Hodenkrebs leiden, geheilt werden.
• Neue Behandlungsmedikamente für den fortgeschrittenen Nierenkrebs haben seit ihrer Zulassung 2007 erstmalig zu Behandlungserfolgen (Ansprechraten) bei 40% der Patienten geführt. Die neuen Substanzen erreichen teilweise komplette Rückbildung aller Krebsabsiedlungen.
• In der Behandlung des Prostatakrebs wurde 2004 die erste Chemotherapie mit Taxanen zugelassen
• Die Hormonentzugstherapie mit Depot-Spritzen für die Behandlung des fortgeschrittenen Prostatakrebses wurde in den 1990´er Jahren zugelassen und ersparte erstmalig den Betroffenen die operative Entfernung der Hoden.
• Nach langer Grundlagenforschung und umfangreichen Studien konnten für das ProstataCa zusätzlich wirksame, neue antihormonelle Therapien (ADT, androgen deprivation therapy), z.B. Abiraterone 2012 und Enzalutamid 2013 zugelassen werden
• In weiteren Studien wurde die Wirksamkeit bei geringen Nebenwirkungen belegt und das Einsatzspektrum, die Indikation erweitert. Die neue antihormonelle Therapie gehört heute zum Goldstandard
• In derzeit laufenden Studien stehen die Aktivierung der körpereigene Immunabwehr mit PD-1- und PD-L1- Antikörpern (Immun Checkpoint Inhibitors) als allgemeine Immunmodulatoren sowie direkt zielgerichtet auf genetische Veränderungen der Krebszelle (Genmutation) mit einem PARP-Inhibitor (Poly-ADP-Ribose-Polymerase) sowie eine Einflussnahme auf den Stoffwechsel der Krebszelle mit TKI (Tyrosinkinaseinhibitor) oder direkte Impftherapien gegen die spezielle Krebszelle (RNA-codiert oder über dendritische Zellen) im Fokus
